About MRRA
Macedon Ranges Residents' Association Inc.
MRRA is a volunteer, non-party-political, non-partisan organization. Its 'business' is protecting our rights as residents and ratepayers, keeping government honest, and standing up for Macedon Ranges' environment and heritage.
An incorporated association, Macedon Ranges Residents' Association was founded in 1995 following the amalgamation of the former Shires of Gisborne, Kyneton, Newham & Woodend, and Romsey.
The Association aims to include, and provide a focus for, residents from all districts of the Macedon Ranges Shire.
The Association actively pursues:
Responsible financial management and open, accountable government.
High standards of services and service delivery.
Equity and natural justice for residents.
The Association actively defends:
The community/s right to be consulted and to participate in all components of governance.
Conservation and enhancement of the Shire/s environment, through:
Protection of natural, historic and scientific resources.
Preservation of community, cultural and lifestyle values.
Protection of rural land and landscapes.
Fostering sustainable economic development and population growth.

The Association achieves its purposes by:
Adopting a watching brief for local and other government proposals and actions as they relate to Macedon Ranges Shire.
Alerting residents to and publicizing issues that have the potential to affect the Shire's residents, environment, resources and values.
Consulting, and sharing information with, the community.
Ensuring MRRA's views reflect those of the wider community and uphold the wider community's interests.
Taking steps to increase residents' awareness of their rights, and their responsibilities.
Encouraging and supporting residents to become more active in and aware of local government and other relevant issues.
Promoting equity and equitable outcomes for the Macedon Ranges' community.
Providing a focus for and, where appropriate, initiating and driving, community responses and action.
Having input into issues that affect Macedon Ranges' residents via submissions, attendance at meetings, workshops/forums and such like.
In the 14 years since its establishment, MRRA has (through attending forums, making submissions, distributing information and calling public meetings) both initiated and responded to issues that affect Macedon Ranges' residents at local, State and Federal government level.
