Get Up Says "ReEnergize Melbourne"

Something exciting is starting in Melbourne, and I'd like you to be part of it.

'ReEnergise Australia' is a grassroots climate change campaign to make our politicians invest more in renewable energy and create hundreds of thousands of new jobs in the process. And with news that 100 Victorian workers have already lost their jobs at the Abbotsford Solar Systems factory, after Australia's only large scale solar company went into administration, it couldn't come at a more important time.

I'll be launching the campaign in Melbourne at the Save Solar Systems rally on Sunday 11th October at 2pm and I'd love to tell you all about how we can create this change together. Click here to find out how you can get involved with the campaign:

I joined GetUp because I know the power of community campaigning. I realised I needed to right the wrongs in my own village before I began righting the wrongs of the world. In my hometown, when the church and community hall built by our Irish famine ancestors were put on the market, we fought hard to preserve our heritage and protect our future - and won.

Now I'm asking you to join me in the fight to protect the planet's future. GetUp members have long told us that renewable energy is our number one priority. But right now the Coal Association is flooding marginal seats with a massive pro-coal campaign. Who will do the same for renewable energy? With a huge number of GetUp members in Melbourne, the answer is us.

We can do it by starting a conversation with the people that politicians listen to most - voters in marginal seats. In Melbourne we'll start by focusing on Lindsay Tanner's seat. By getting voters in his seat talking about the issue, we give Mr Tanner a great reason to become a champion of renewable energy in his party room and back in Canberra.

Join dozens of people already signed up to create change in Melbourne - just click here and I'll let you know how:

ReEnergise Australia will be rolling out all over the country, starting with key areas like Melbourne. By spreading the word about how we can create hundreds of thousands of jobs in renewable energy, politicians will have no choice but to stand up to the polluters if they want to keep their job.

I can't wait to start working with you, and dozens of other GetUp members in Melbourne, to make a safe climate future a reality and to ReEnergise Australia.

Thanks for being a part of the solution,
Regina, ReEnergise Australia Organiser for Melbourne

PS - We need to be making the switch to a clean-energy economy, but Australia's only large scale solar company has gone into administration - we need to show our politicians here in Melbourne that a real investment in renewable energy is needed now. Just click here to find out how!
