DPI [Department of Primary Industry] has agreed to expand its Stock Containment Area grants so that they are now available to assist fire affected landholders. Stock containment areas are especially important as they can help contain any potential weed spread from imported hay.
Funding Available for Establishing Stock Containment Areas
Program details: financial assistance is available to landholders affected by drought and the bush fires in the PPW region to help with the establishment of stock containment areas. DPI is delivering this program.
Financial assistance available: up to $1,600 is available for each stock containment area established, for up to $5,300 per farmer for stock containment areas erected on their land. The funds can be used to purchase items such as fencing, gates, troughs, piping, tanks and pumps and stock feeders etc.
Note: landholders must have approval from the Geoff Winsall (DPI – Drought Soil Health Officer - details below), prior to erecting their stock containment fencing.
Works must be completed by: 20 June 2008
