DEAR MINISTER,

It has come to our attention that Macedon Ranges Shire Council has submitted to your department a planning scheme amendment which leaves out policy and the reference document Riddells Creek Town Centre Structure Plan 1991.

It has been replaced with a far briefer and more general statement regarding the commercial centre of our town.

This policy change comes at a time when there is an “on foot” application to VCAT to challenge aspects of a proposed supermarket and shops development in Riddells Creek, already passed by council.

The external Planning Panel which reviewed the amendment C84, recommended that council but the policy back in, advice which was ignored by the council.

 The deletion therefore appears not to be “policy neutral” as the C84 amendment was supposed to be.

We urge you not to sign off on this amendment until such time as the Riddells Creek Town Centre Structure Plan 1991 is reinserted.
