UPDATE  Re: Adoption of Residential Subdivision Guidelines

(27/6/05 - P) Council puts off decision until next Planning Committee meeting.  See Residential Subdivision Guidelines Archive  UPDATE 1  (18/7/05 – P)  Council again defers adoption to consider overlooked submission.

At its Planning Committee meeting on 13 July, Council again voted to defer adoption of its Health and Well-Being Residential Subdivision Guidelines to allow time to address and action a submission that had been overlooked when submissions were considered.  At this stage, the Guidelines are scheduled to come back to Council at its meeting on 27th July.

Adoption of Residential Subdivision Guidelines

(27/6/05 - P) Council puts off decision until next Planning Committee meeting.

Council will now consider its Health and Wellbeing Residential Subdivision Guidelines at the 13th July Planning Committee meeting to be held in Kyneton starting at 7.00 pm.

MRRA Says:

Overall the guidelines provide some assistance on some issues related to residential ‘development’.  However, MRRA believes they are a little too ‘metropolitan’ in concept to produce the ‘rural’ types of outcomes residents want.  There is also a disturbing level of confusion about whether the guidelines are for subdivision or for development, remembering that most houses within townships don’t need a planning permit.  This means the guidelines, where they refer to development (or housing) outcomes, won’t be able to be applied.  The guidelines are also applicable to both Residential and Low Density Residential zones which fails to recognize key differences between the nature of these zones. And finally, the guidelines have been prepared as part of a Health and Wellbeing project, and this is their main focus.  It’s a pity the guidelines haven’t captured environmental and planning issues as comprehensively and balanced those with health and wellbeing issues.

Council’s Residential Development Guidelines Up For Public Comment Until 6th June

(9/5/05 - P) Have your say about what standards you want developers to deliver.

MRRA strongly encourages residents to read and comment on Council’s guidelines for improving residential subdivision standards.  Take a look at the guidelines and see if they include all of the issues you think should be addressed, then try to think about whether these guidelines will produce the outcomes you’d like to see in Macedon Ranges.   Here’s your chance to influence what happens around you – don’t miss out.   Check Council’s website at www.mrsc.vic.gov.au  and go to Designing In Health and Well-Being: Guidelines for Residential Subdivision in the Macedon Ranges Shire.  Council’s contact is Anne McLennan, mailto:annem@macedon-ranges.vic.gov.au
