(21/2/09 - P) Yes you can comment, but we can't find any information about closing dates for comments
The Victorian government is inviting comments on its review of planning and subdivision fees in Victoria. A paper discussing issues was released in December 2008. There isn't any obvious cut-off date for submissions to be made, so if you are interested, contact the Department of Planning and Community Development. Click here for details.
(24/2/08 - P) Department's Scoping Study now available
This is a pretty important issue, and has a direct bearing on a Council's bottom line. This review will be asking what fees should be paid to a Council by those wishing to develop land or make other use of Council's planning department and resources? The State government is about to review the fees charged for these services. Current fees are contained in the Planning and Environment Regulations, available from http://www.legislation.vic.gov.au/ (select 'rules', then 'P', and scroll down to Planning and Environment Regulations 2000, click and download).
In 2007, the (now) Department of Planning and Community Development commissioned PricewaterhouseCoopers with Arup Consulting to review the cost information available, and advise the Department on:
the level of detailed cost information and data required to justify any new fees; and
the recommended methodology for obtaining the necessary data.
The result is a 3 part report which can be accessed by clicking on the following link to the Department's website:

MRRA Says:
You might want to take a look at this because down the track there may be an opportunity to make a submission, so it would be beneficial to be across the issues that the Department will be considering.
