A TRAVELLER'S LOG OF LATENESS (a sequel to 'Dear Diary')
A colleague (and fellow train-sufferer) emailed the link to your site through to me. I think you may well need to expand - because it could become an excellent therapeutic service - with commuters venting their spleen on arrival at work (whatever time that may be).
Since the trains went back on Wednesday 22 February, NOT ONE that I have caught on the regular commute journey has arrived at its destination on time.
Now, I confess, I do not catch the train every day - I work a four day week. So maybe the trains are on time on Fridays - but here's my 'log of lateness' (I'm sure Vline love getting my emails - which they now receive at regular intervals with requests for reimbursements / vouchers):
Wednesday 22 February:
7.38am to Southern Cross
5.33pm to Woodend.
Both services were late by around 10 minutes.
Thursday 23 February
As above
Monday 27 February
As above - except the 5.33pm arrived at Woodend 20 minutes late
Wednesday 1 March
7.38am arrived at Southern Cross 20 minutes late - ensuring my late arrival at work for scheduled meetings (on the previous two mornings I had been late to work, which had meant I was late to appointments, but made my excuses - on this occasion it was just embarrassingly late).
Got lift home that afternoon - thank God!
Thursday 2 March
See Wednesday 22 Feb - same deal.
Monday 6 March
7.38am - arrived 16 minutes late ensuring I was late for VIP meeting @ work (gotta love that).
5.33pm - arrival 17 minutes late @ Woodend.
Tuesday 7 March
This morning looks like another average day - about 10 minutes late this morning. Can't wait to see how late I'll be to pick up my kids tonight.
I should add that one of the great ironies is that on a number of those mornings we passengers have had the great honor of being late in the new 'velocity' trains. While they look faster - and may well travel faster, even they are unable to get us to the arrival destination even remotely on target.
Hey - and to top it off - it's more expensive!! Prices for tickets rose across the board - but more than that, Vline abolished the 'off peak' ticket for commuters on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
On that basis, I think Vline's message to regular commuters is pretty clear.
Kind regards
Frustrated commuter
