Council "Yes" To Dogs In Romsey Residential Zone Disintegrates Into VCAT "No"
(1/5/08 - P) Purpose of a residential zone is residential, and yapping dogs aren't compatible with residential amenity
Here's another application that, with overtones of Little Britain, has had a yes but, no but, yes but, no but, existence. First, Council staff said 'yes', Council said 'no', then, persuaded by some (as it turns out) dodgy arguments from a couple of councillors, Council flip-flopped and said 'yes', and now VCAT has said 'no'. Yet another circus of a decision-making process which sees the objectors thousands of dollars out-of-pocket because they (correctly) thought Council was wrong, and took it to VCAT.
Some have floated the idea that there may have been an undeclared conflict of interest at play in Council's no/yes switchback performance, but we'd like to believe there wasn't - wouldn't that be dishonest and unethical behaviour? Surely not...
